My design Capstone project, the culmination of my degree at California Baptist University, is titled America the Beautiful, an editorial-style book dedicated to celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, the Semiquincentennial. The purpose of this work is to unite the American people and rekindle a spirit of patriotism within our nation. This book begins by exploring America’s founding history and the enduring principles that have guided the nation since its birth. The rest of the book features a diverse group of Americans, each in a different season of life, honoring their unique career paths and callings. Through their stories, each individual offers a personal perspective on America and how this country has shaped, influenced, and blessed their lives in meaningful ways. It felt fitting to take advantage of this rare moment in history by reflecting on the beauty of the nation we call home which is why I wanted to do this project. The project consists of 4 main deliverables: the book, 2 hats, photo prints, and a website. The ideation process of coming up with project topics started in December of 2025, and my final project choice was decided in January of 2026 by my board of design professors. With approval, I was off and running, attempting to complete the bulk of the book’s photoshoots in about 3-4 weeks. I got to interact with some incredible people during this process.
